Can one person drink at every bar in San Francisco?

Mums – Japantown

I knew I would like Mums before I ever stepped inside. In fact, I had walked past Mums so many times and imagined what it must be like that I felt I already knew the place. Despite technically being a hotel bar, Mums is comfy and laid back, with a bar that feels more like a well lit breakfast diner counter. The prices don’t fit the hotel scene either, with cocktails ranging from $4.50 to $10 and Saporro on draft. While I didn’t try the food, Mums is also the “home of Shabu Shabu”, and the food on the tables behind us looked fantastic.

Mums isn’t exactly brimming with excitement, but it’s a perfect spot for an after work drink away from the well heeled or too-cool-for-school crowds. The patrons are mostly tourists, but the vibe is quite mellow. Sitting at the bar, one can peacefully spend an hour or two watching the people walk by in Japantown.
