Can one person drink at every bar in San Francisco?

Mint Slope Neighborhood Party

Yesterday there a sort of neighborhood block party in the newly named “Mint Slope“. I have to say, as a party it was a bit disappointing. There wasn’t much interactivity; it was more of a sale that several stores participated in. There wasn’t anything to do but shop, which isn’t exactly an option for a lot of us these days. The highlight of the evening was free beer at Get Lost Travel Books, which I hope gave them lots of new customers. I certainly enjoyed perusing travel memoirs with a cold brew in hand.

The other bright spot in the night was the Gorilla Pete’s hotdog cart. Hotdogs with cream cheese, grilled onions, sauerkraut and hot peppers? Yes, please!

I hope if there are more of these “micro-hood” block parties, that events are planned to make them something more than a big sale. Some live music would be a good start. As long as there is free beer somewhere though, I’ll be there.

There was something similar on valencia a while ago. I went out to go to the ‘block party’ just to find that it was just some stores having sales and a DJ in shoe biz. Such a let-down.
