Can one person drink at every bar in San Francisco?

Residence – Castro

Residence was not at all what I expected. Entering the bar is like walking into an turn of the (last) century British gentleman’s lounge. Instead of being gimmicky, the designer managed to make it feel modern and welcoming, not an exact reproduction but more of a nod to the style.

The drink menu was intriguing, but to be honest I was too broke to pass up the $3 well drink happy hour special. Next time I’ll be sure to try the Tokyo School Girl, a concoction combining sake and St. Germain, (the bacon of the world of cocktails.)

The seating area was intimate and great for a moderate sized group, easily reconfigured when @juanrapido showed up with two friends in tow. Residence is a great bar for happy hour gatherings and on a Thursday evening was surprisingly mellow. We spent a pleasant three hours chatting and enjoying the hits of the 80’s playing in the background.
