Can one person drink at every bar in San Francisco?

Twin Peaks Tavern – Castro

Walking into Twin Peaks, the first thing I noticed was the over powering smell of oatmeal cookies emanating from Hot Cookie next door. It sounds like a strange combination, but a bar that smells like grandma’s cookies is a wonderful thing indeed. In addition to the fantastic smell and the bar’s historic significance as the first gay bar to have large, unblocked windows, Twin Peaks is a great bar in its own right.

The second thing I noticed about the bar was how friendly everyone was. Bartenders and patrons alike were easy with a smile and seemed to welcome conversation with anyone around them. There was a real sense of community, and even though it was my first visit, I felt instantly part of the fold.

The drinks at Twin Peaks were strong, affordable, and well crafted. My friends and I sat upstairs with a view of the crowd, pleasantly buzzing from our whiskey sours. Even on a busy Saturday night, the vibe of the bar was vibrant, not chaotic. I fell a little bit in love with Twin Peaks.
