Can one person drink at every bar in San Francisco?

Bow Bow – Chinatown

Bow Bow was actually my 28th bar, but I could not for the life of me remember which number it was at the time. The bar was tiny with red lights everywhere and Chinese karaoke songs providing the soundtrack. The bartender was fabulous in a vintage fur jacket, and while she didn’t seem overly enthusiastic about us interrupting her quiet Sunday night, she soon warmed up to us.

One of my friends was brave enough to try Tycu, which is served in a glowing bottle, always the mark of a quality alcohol.

  1. That Tyku stuff is trippy. The Blackthorn had a bottle a while back we used to joke that it looked like a bottle of star trek booze.

The only bar I’ve been to in Chinatown is “Red’s Tavern” and it was a trip.

I guess they don’t do karaoke on Sunday nights there. Go to Bow Bow on one of the karaoke nights for a completely surreal experience.

The owner and hostess, Candy Mama, is an absolute rock star. Hands down. I can never pop into this place for just one. You’ll end up doing many shots with her while she simultaneous shoves endless plates of peanuts at you. All the while, non-stop chatting with everyone. She is off-the-hook fun.
