Can one person drink at every bar in San Francisco?

Rye – Tenderloin

Rye was a pleasant surprise. I expected it to be more like Swig, full of well heeled yuppies enjoying the best hits of a “Now That’s What I Call Music” compilation, but while it’s definitely an upscale bar, the atmosphere was much more inviting, and the clientele were more diverse.

The bar is stocked with classic and obscure liquors along with a grand selection of bitters to compliment every drink. Like many newer San Francisco bars, the drink list is comprised of half prohibition era cocktails and half signature cocktails inspired by the classics. While the drinks are expensive, they did have a $7 special of blood orange caipirinhas.

  1. Looks like a pretty awesome place for an old school whisky drinker like me. Far too few places have anything more than angostura bitters for cocktails.
